This week’s Wednesday wishlist is slightly different, let me explain why. I’ve recently embarked on a health and fitness journey after running (jogging slowly) the Manchester 10K run back in May! It’s not a diet, it’s not a weight loss journey. Both of these phrases tend to imply a ‘quick fix’ scheme, or a journey that’s solely focused on weight loss. Yes, I am definitely looking to lose fat, but not necessarily weight as muscle weighs more than fat and I am weight training to tone up and become stronger, as well as doing cardio. Due to this new fitness interest, I have a few items I would like to buy to aide me in my journey!
I am the kind of person who works well with targets and tracking to help me achieve my goals (My Fitness Pal is one of my favourite apps)! So a fitness tracker would work really well for me. I currently use my iPhone to track my steps and activity at the gym, as I always run with my phone in my hand, but for the times where my phone isn’t on my (rare), a tracker would be great to track my steps, physical activity and also importantly sleep! I did have a Misfit tracker about a year ago, but it did not work very well, and the strap broke so I thought I’d wait and purchase a better one. I’m torn between the FitBit brand or Polar, but I think I’m going to go with the FitBit Charge HR which at £99 tracks your steps, measures your heart rate, analyses your all-day and resting heart rate trends and sleep tracking. The black strap version is the one I have my eye on as it would match pretty much everything in my wardrobe!
Next up on my wishlist is the Royce Impact Free Sports Bra. I have a larger bust, and now I have taken up running, I find it a nightmare to find a sports bra that ‘holds everything in!’ I currently wear a normal bra on top of my sports bra at the gym, but would of course prefer just to wear one! I’ve heard positive things about this brand with their non-underwired sports bras, great for ‘jiggle control’ and no rubbing, so I’m willing to give it a try. A further bonus is that the bra is only £30! Sometimes you find ‘specialist’ items suddenly have a premium slapped on them, so I’m pleased that this bra is around the same price as a good regular sports bra.
Finally, on the fitness wishlist are some kettlebells! At present I have some extra time on my hands, so I’m able to exercise at the gym 5 to 6 times a week, but there are times where I’d like to have a strength training session or two at home. On those days that I just can’t bring myself to leave the house, I’d love to use some kettlebells for strength and toning exercises. I already have some dumbells at home, but variety is the spice of life, and these are great for a total-body resistance and cardio workout, a great core worker! They’re also quite easy to store in the flat without taking up too much space.
I’ve really enjoyed putting together this wishlist! Hopefully it has been informative and helpful, and has also let you in on the journey I’m currently on. I will be blogging about my fitness journey here on the blog so stay tuned!
Until next time.
